Chh

HUNTINGTON – An Ohio man is suing a Huntington surgeon he claims was negligent during surgery and caused him injuries.

On March 17, 2013, Jerry R. Christian Jr. and Dr. Constantinos Constantinou entered into a patient-physician relationship when Christian presented to Cabell Huntington Hospital with a thrombosed arteriovenous fistula, according to a complaint filed March 4 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Christian claims Constantinou performed on open thrombectomy left arm arteriovenous fistula on him and, during the procedure, he caused a traumatic blunt injury to the plaintiff's right thorax, which caused a right hemothorax.

As a result of the right hemothorax, Christian was required to undergo additional surgery on March 20, 2013,  for the purposes of treating the right hemothorax, according to the suit.

Christian claims Constantinou provided care to him negligently, carelessly and in a marked deviation from the standard of care.

Constantinou's negligence caused Christian to sustain personal injuries, suffer great pain of body and mind, incur medical expenses and require additional medical care, including two additional surgeries, according to the suit.

Christian is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is being represented by William L. Mundy of Mundy & Associates.
