HUNTINGTON -- A Kanawha County woman is suing after she was hit and dragged by a car in a construction zone, claiming negligence.
Morgan Tuell Gillespie filed a lawsuit May 23 in Cabell Circuit Court against Robert C. Campbell, AWP Inc., doing business as Area Wide Protective, and SCI - U.S. Traffic Technologies Inc., doing business as U.S. Traffic Technologies and USTT, citing negligence.
Gillespie claims she was employed by the defendants directing traffic past work crews that were replacing power poles for Appalachian Electric Power Company on Martha Road in Barboursville on June 4, 2012. The suit alleges as she was in the middle of the road directing traffic, Campbell hit Gillespie, dragging her on the undercarriage of his SAAB until he struck a power pole, causing severe injuries including torn ligaments, severe bruising and burns on her neck.
Gillespie is seeking damages, attorney's fees, interest and court costs.
She is being represented by Charleston attorneys Robert H. Miller II and Shawn R. Romano of Romano and Associates PLLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher D. Chiles.
