Monongalia man lists 79 companies in asbestos suit

CHARLESTON - A Monongalia County man has filed a suit against 79 companies, after he contracted asbestosis and mesothelioma.

Attorney David P. Chervenick filed the suit on behalf of Joseph M. Hutchison III and his wife, Ann Hutchison, on June 6 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Joseph Hutchison worked as a laborer at Union Carbide in South Charleston and was a student and faculty member at West Virginia University. According to the suit, he has asbestosis and mesothelioma.

Hutchison claims he was exposed to asbestos in the products used on his jobsites, which were located across West Virginia.

Ann Hutchinson claims she has loss the financial support, services, companionship and society of her husband.

In the 15-count suit, Hutchison seek punitive and compensatory damages for themselves and others similarly situated.

The case will be assigned to a visiting judge.
