Shirley Calhoun as guardian and conservator of James D. Calhoun, incompetent and as next friend of S.E. Calhoun and J.D. Calhoun, minors v. CT Gym, LLC, d/b/a Gold's Gym
PA-Rudolph L. DiTrapano, Sean P. McGinley; J-Steptoe
* On Aug. 21, 2006, James D. Calhoun was exercising on a treadmill at Gold's Gym when he experienced sudden cardiac death as a result of a heart attack. A fellow patron tried to resuscitate Calhoun but was unsuccessful. None of the Gold's Gym employee's did anything to assist Calhoun. Calhoun was transported to Jefferson Hospital and then transferred to Winchester Medical Center where he received a coronary artery catherization. Shirley Calhoun, widow and guardian and conservator of Calhoun is suing for $75,000 for damages on Calhoun's part including disfigurement and severe conscious pain and suffering. The plaintiff is claiming that the incident was caused by the negligence of the defendant for failure to exercise an appropriate standard of care, despite their Web site indicates that their personal trainers are certified to perform CPR.
