Man sues over fall from telephone pole

CHARLESTON – A Bluefield man is suing Verizon West Virginia after falling off a telephone pole.

Danny Johnson and his wife Lisa Johnson filed a lawsuit May 6 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

The lawsuit says Danny worked for Comcast Communications as a maintenance technician.

On Aug. 6, 2008, he was working on a utility pole near Bluefield when the pole broke, causing him to fall some 25 feet to the ground. The pole was maintained by Verizon, the plaintiffs allege.

The lawsuit says Danny was severely and permanently injured in the fall.

The plaintiffs seek compensatory damages over the injuries and loss of consortium.

David H. Carriger is representing the plaintiffs. The case is before Kanawha Circuit Judge Charles King.
