CHARLESTON -- A Kanawha County woman is suing the Charleston-Kanawha Housing Authority after she slipped and fell in a parking lot.

On Dec. 22, 2007, Tara Viramethi was loading groceries at a parking lot of an apartment complex when she slipped on oil in the parking lot and fell, according to a complaint filed Dec. 16 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Viramethi claims the oil constituted as a hazardous condition that has been present for a sufficient period of time to allow the defendant an opportunity to clean it up.

According to the suit, the defendant owed a duty of reasonable care under all circumstances to provide reasonably safe premises.

Viramethi claims she suffered a compression fracture and bulging disk in her back for which she has incurred medical expenses; has endured great pain and suffering; loss of enjoyment of life; and other damages.

Viramethi is seeking compensatory damages. Scott H. Kaminski of Balgo & Kaminski is representing her.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis Bloom.
