BECKLEY — A former schoolteacher is suing Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company d/b/a CNA Group Life Assurance Company, alleging improper denial of long-term disability benefits.
Janet L. Moye filed a complaint on Aug. 12 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company d/b/a CNA Group Life Assurance Company, alleging that she should receive disability benefits.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she regularly paid her premium via payroll deductions for more than five years. After her sick leave was exhausted in July 2013, she submitted a long-term disability claim, she alleges, adding that she has not received benefits under the Group Voluntary Long Term Disability Insurance plan to date. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because it allegedly denied a claim for benefits that should have been approved.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for her benefits that have been denied, attorney's fees and costs for this litigation and such other relief as the court may deem just and equitable. She is represented by Danny R. Moye of Danny R. Moye Law Office in Beckley.
