Customer blames shopping plaza operators for injuries

Slip01

NEW CUMBERLAND — A Weirton woman is suing operators of a local shopping plaza, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff suffering injuries.

Donna Peterson filed a complaint Feb. 1 in Hancock Circuit Court against Weirton Shopping Plaza Inc. and Bobette Enterprise Inc., doing business as Weirton Shop N Save, alleging they breached their duty to provide a safe environment.

According to the complaint, on Sept, 27, 2016, Peterson was shopping at Weirton Shopping Plaza when she fell due to a hazardous condition. As a result, the suit says, Peterson suffered injuries that resulted in physical and mental pain, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to conduct a reasonable inspection and failed to correct the dangerous condition on their premises.

Peterson seeks trial by jury, judgment in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, pre- and post-judgment interest, and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney Eric M. Frankovitch of Frankovitch, Anetakis, Simon, Decapio & Pearl LLP in Weirton.
