Man alleges Cabell County physicians failed to diagnose stroke

HUNTINGTON – A Fayette County man alleges that a medical facility and physicians failed to diagnose his stroke.

Lorne L. Davis filed a complaint on June 30 in Cabell Circuit Court against Dr. Larry Harman; River Valley Emergency Physicians Inc.; Dr. Ijaz Ahmad; and Medical Neurology Inc. alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff exhibited stroke-like symptoms on July 2, 2015, and was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center by ambulance. The suit states that Ahmad and Harman were part of the stroke team alerted for the plaintiff and that Harman misdiagnosed the plaintiff with a transient ischemic attack and that Ahman did not arrive at the hospital until 15 hours after the plaintiff arrived.

The plaintiff holds Harman, River Valley Emergency Physicians Inc., Ahmad and Medical Neurology Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide treatment failed to offer early intervention.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Tony I. O'Dell and Cheryl A. Fisher of Tiano O'Dell PLLC in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Chris Chiles.
