Medical malpractice 07

CHARLESTON – An Ohio resident alleges that her mother was injured by a Kanawha County surgeon before her death.

Parris Ennis, administratrix of the estate of Sally Ann Graves, filed a complaint July 20 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Johnna Michelle Jackson, D.O. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Graves saw Jackson on Feb. 15, 2016, for a punch biopsy of a breast mass. The suit states Graves was taking a blood thinner medication and that the next day, was found unresponsive with no blood pressure. The suit states she was admitted to Thomas Memorial Hospital with acute blood loss, shock and large left breast hematoma. The plaintiff alleges Graves remained under hospital care until her death in September 2016.

The plaintiff holds Jackson responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to review Graves' medical records.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that will compensate the plaintiff, interest, curative damages, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
