New Eastern Panhandle circuit judge to be sworn in Monday

BERKELEY SPRINGS – Morgan County Prosecutor Debra McLaughlin will be sworn in as a circuit judge at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, at the Morgan County Courthouse in Berkeley Springs.

Twenty‐Third Judicial Circuit (Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties) Judge Christopher C. Wilkes will deliver the oath of office. A reception will follow at the Country Inn of Berkeley Springs.

Gov. Jim Justice appointed McLaughlin to the seat left vacant by the June 9 death of Circuit Judge John Yoder. 

She has been Morgan County's prosecutor since 2002, and she was an assistant prosecutor from 1999 to 2002. She previously practiced in Philadelphia and York, Pa. She received her law degree from Kansas University in 1993. She lives in Berkeley Springs.
