Boycotting the boycotters!

West Virginia Treasurer Riley Moore

The great thing about being “woke” is that you can pretend to be virtuous without paying a price for it. It’s much harder to make actual contributions to society while being attacked by nitpicking nitwits and ideologues.

Do you oppose fossil fuels and support only so-called renewables like wind, solar and biomass? Well, aren’t you wonderful ... and ignorant? If you knew anything about energy, you’d know oil, gas, and coal production in developed Western countries is remarkably clean, and that “renewables” cannot and will not replace them any time soon because they are not yet competitive.

Never mind the damage that windmills and solar panels do to wildlife and the environment, and that much of what is called biomass is wood pulp, which requires harvesting of countless huggable trees.

Well, woke folk, your days of joy-riding on your uninformed emotions are over. From now on, it’s going to cost you.

West Virginia Treasurer Riley Moore is leading a 15-state coalition that will hold banks accountable when they refuse financing for fossil fuel industries.

“I’m proud to continue to stand with my colleagues against these attacks on our states’ coal, oil, and natural gas industries,” Moore said. “These industries – which are engaged in perfectly legal activities – provide jobs, paychecks and benefits to thousands of hard-working families in our states and we will not stand idly by and allow our peoples’ livelihoods to be destroyed to advance a radical social agenda.”

Conversations with coal and gas producers in the state inspired Moore to fight back..

“They had brought this to my attention that they were getting increased scrutiny and seeing a potential loss of capital based on the industries that they’re in,” Moore explained. “And then, the Biden administration started using coercive tactics, so we started looking into it.

“I started talking to other states, and they were encountering the exact same things.”

So, you don’t want to do business with energy companies in our states? Then maybe you won’t get any more state contracts. And we might cut off your utility services, too.
