CHARLESTON — A Charleston woman is suing China King Buffet alleging she was injured while at the restaurant due to a slippery floor.

Kuppel Inc. is doing business as China King Buffet.

Jennifer Rose was eating at the defendant's restaurant with her children on Oct. 25, 2022, and Rose went toward the front of the restaurant to the ice cream dispenser to get ice cream, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court.

On her way back, Rose slipped on the wet tile floor near the hostess stand and was injured, according to the suit.

Rose claims there were no wet floor signs in the area to warn her of the dangerous condition. She claims when EMS arrived, one of the EMS workers noted that the floor was extremely slippery.

The plaintiff sustained injuries, including a broken arm that required extensive medical treatment, as a result of the fall, according to the suit.

Rose claims the defendant was negligent in failing to warn her and other patrons of the wet floors.

Rose is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is represented by Joshua R. Martin of The Martin Law Firm in Nitro.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Kenneth Ballard.
