HUNTINGTON — A woman is suing Mountwest Foundation alleging she was wrongfully accused and fired.

Lisa Beckett was employed by the defendant beginning in 1996 and in the last few years she began suffering from anxiety and was approved for FMLA leave, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.

Beckett claims in April 2021, she notified the defendant that she needed to leave work because of an illness, however, the defendant failed to record that she had notified the defendant of the absence and she was later accused of falsifying her time card and was threatened with prosecution.

The accusations caused Beckett to suffer a panic attack. She was then terminated from her employment, according to the suit.

Beckett claims she has been unable to find suitable, gainful employment since then.

Beckett is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is represented by Hoyt Glazer, Abraham J. Saad and Eric Anderson of Glazer Saad Anderson in Huntington.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Alfred E. Ferguson.
