HUNTINGTON — A woman is suing West Virginia Division of Corrections & Rehabilitation alleging she was raped by a correctional officer and no one protected her.
C.O. Adkins and John Doe also were named as defendants in the suit.
Kasey Blevins was raped by C.O. Robert Alan Blake on Aug. 31, 2019, and a rape kit was performed, which indicated Blake, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.
Blake later was convicted in Cabell Circuit Court for the incident.
Blevins claims Adkins failed to intervene on her behalf. She also claims after she reported Blake she was retaliated against.
Blevins is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is represented by Michael A. Woelfel of Woelfel & Woelfel in Huntington.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Greg Howard.
