CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County man who was being transported in an ambulance has sued the operator after he was injured in a crash during transport.

Christopher Gibson filed his complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against HealthTeam Critical Care Transport, HealthNet Aeromedical Services and ambulance driver Christopher A. King for injuries sustained in the crash that occurred November 22, 2021.

Gibson says he was strapped to a gurney in the rear of the ambulance. The complaint says King was driving erratically and at a high rate of speed on Interstate 77 near Princeton when he lost control of the 2018 Ford TCN F-350 ambulance and hit a guardrail before overturning several times.

The plaintiff says he has suffered physical injuries to his head, neck, back, shoulders, upper extremities and lower extremities as well as emotional distress, stress and anxiety. He seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, court costs, attorney fees and other relief.

Gibson is being represented by Jordan M. Laird of Laird Law in Wheeling. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
