Fired Buffalo Wild Wings workers file racial discrimination lawsuits

Griffith

BECKLEY - Three former kitchen workers at Buffalo Wild Wings in Mount Hope are suing their former employer, claiming racial discrimination.

Charlton Lamar Francis, Jevone S. Fortune and Xavier Stewart filed lawsuits Nov. 12 in the Circuit Court of Raleigh County against their former employer, Mountain View Investors Inc., doing business as Buffalo Wild Wings, and Carey Keilitz, individually and as store manager, citing wrongful discharge, hostile work environment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The plaintiffs say they were employed as kitchen staff by the defendant and contend that while employed they were subjected to racial discrimination that created a hostile work environment.

Keilitz engaged in hostile, demeaning and racially abusive conduct, according to the complaint. The plaintiffs state the defendant terminated them after they raised complaints about the hostile work environment.

Francis, Fortune and Stewart are seeking compensatory damages, punitive damages, interest, fees and costs. They are being represented in the case by Travis A. Griffith of Olivio & Griffith PLLC.
