Former Hooters employee sues, alleges racial discrimination

BECKLEY - A former employee of the Hooters in Beckley is suing, claiming racial discrimination.

Theodore Green filed a lawsuit Nov. 12 in the Circuit Court of Raleigh County against his former employer, Happy Owl of Beckley LLC, doing business as Hooters of Beckley, Hooters of America LLC, Cornett Hospitality LLC and John Doe Inc., citing violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act and retaliatory discharge.

The complaint states the plaintiff was employed at Hooters until March 2013. According to the plaintiff, he was not promoted due to his race and was terminated after making complaints of racial discrimination.

Green is seeking compensatory damages, punitive damages, fees and costs. He is being represented in the case by Paul M. Stroebel of Stroebel & Johnson PLLC.
