Brenton homeowners want Safeco Insurance to pay after fire

Lambert

PINEVILLE - Brenton homeowners are suing, seeking payment from Safeco Insurance Co.

Stephen Crouse and Johnny Crouse filed a lawsuit Nov. 22 in the Circuit Court of Wyoming County against Safeco Insurance Co. of America, Farrington Insurance Inc. and Philip Farrington.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs owned a residence in Brenton, and the residence was subject to Safeco Insurance coverage that was sold to the plaintiffs by Farrington Insurance and Philip Farrington.

The plaintiffs state that at the time the insurance policy was purchased, they informed the defendants the residence was a rental property, and Stephen Crouse truthfully informed the defendants of prior insurance claims.

The complaint states on June 14, 2012, there was a fire at the insured property. The plaintiffs notified the defendants of the claim and on Feb. 5. Safeco denied coverage on the basis of misrepresentation on the application, according to the complaint.

The plaintiffs are seeking an undisclosed amount in damages. They are being represented in the case by attorney Pamela A. Lambert of the Lambert Law Offices.
