Council on Aging accused of wrongful termination

Farmer

PINEVILLE - Rose Reece filed suit in the Wyoming County Circuit Court on Nov. 20, naming Council on Aging Inc. as the sole defendant.

Reece says she was hired by the defendant in October 2008. According to her complaint, Reece was injured in a workplace accident in September 2012 and applied for Workers' Compensation benefits.

Reece says she visited her treating physician on Oct. 2, 2012, and was informed that she could return to work in approximately two weeks.

Prior to this visit, her physician told her she may be able to return to work on Oct. 3, 2012. Reece allegedly received a letter from defendant on Oct. 3, 2012 indicating she had failed to return to work and her employment was terminated.

Reece is seeking back pay, compensatory damages, punitive damages and attorneys fees. She is being represented by attorney Stephen B. Farmer.
