PRINCETON - A man is suing a neighbor after he was allegedly forced to cancel a licensed hunt, causing economic damage.
James Wiley filed a lawsuit Nov. 20 in the Circuit Court of Mercer County against Deborah Lawson, citing negligence.
Wiley says he runs an outfitter business in which he conducts hunting, fishing and other various outdoor adventures on his property in Lerona.
He says the defendant lives on the adjoining property, and the only access to Wiley's property is on a roadway that runs through the defendant's property. Wiley says on Oct. 14, 2012, Lawson approached him and openly threatened him with a firearm, after which the defendant was convicted for brandishing a deadly weapon and sentenced to jail and a fine.
According to the complaint, due to the intentional, negligent, willful and illegal actions of the defendant, Wiley was forced to cancel a licensed hunt involving six men who were to each pay $1,500 for a two-week hunt.
Wiley is seeking damages in the amount of $9,000 for lost revenue, interest and any costs for the action. He is being represented in the case by attorney Phillip B. Ball.
