Woman says sexual harassment claims got her reassigned

Stroebel

FAYETTEVILLE - A woman is suing after allegedly being reassigned following complaints of continued sexual harassment by a coworker.

Kathy Gilliam filed a lawsuit Dec. 2 in the Circuit Court of Fayette County against Fayetteville Public Library, Fayette County Public Libraries and Randall Ballard, citing a violation of the state human rights act and retaliatory conduct and violation of public policy.

According to the complaint, Gilliam was sexually harassed by Randall Ballard and complained about it to the director of Fayette County Libraries. She says that after Ballard continued to sexually harass her, creating a hostile work environment, she again complained to the director.

Gilliam alleges that after her second complaint, she was told she would have to transfer to the Oak Hill Library, which the complaint claims was not an appropriate action and was taken in retaliation of her complaints.

Gilliam is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages. She is being represented in the case by Paul M. Stroebel of Stroebel & Johnson PLLC.
