POINT PLEASANT - A seaman is suing after his leg was allegedly crushed while working on a ship.
Christopher Lee Taylor filed a lawsuit Dec. 12 in the Mason County Circuit Court against Campbell Transportation Company Inc. and M/V Allegheny, citing negligence, unseaworthiness and maintenance and cure.
According to the complaint, Taylor is a seaman and was employed by the defendant as a deckhand on the crew in the service of the defendant's vessel, the M/V Allegheny.
The complaint states during the subject voyage the M/V Allegheny was travelling through territorial waters of West Virginia and Pennsylvania on the Monongahela River in the vicinity of Glassport, Pa.
Taylor says on Dec. 10, 2012, he was acting under the direction and order of his employer, Campbell Transportation Company, when his left leg was crushed when it became trapped between a barge timberhead and the vessel while he was attempting to take a face wire off.
Taylor is seeking a judgment in excess of the jurisdictional limit. He is being represented in the case by Bradley H. Layne.
