WHEELING -- Dinsmore & Shohl’s Denise Pentino has joined the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Her three-year term started Jan. 1.
She also has been appointed to the Board of Directors for West Virginia Court Appointed Special Advocates (WV CASA) Association.
The Wheeling Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to improve business development for its members through networking, leadership programs, sponsorships and events. Chamber Director Terry Sterling recommended Pentino for the Board, and the Executive Committee approved the nomination.
“I have personally known Denise for over 15 years," Sterling said. "She is very active in our local community with many organizations such as Wheeling Health Right and Oglebay Institute. She will be a great asset to our Board."
Pentino has been serving as legal counsel for the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce for seven years and is excited for the new role.
“I am very honored to join the Board of Directors and look forward to representing the business community," Pentino said. "The Chamber’s goals match my personal ones to continue to develop opportunities to help our businesses succeed."
As for the CASA Board, Wheeling Police Chief Shawn Schwertfeger is the president, and he saw a need to have legal representation the Board and recommended Pentino join.
“Children are our most precious commodity," Schwertfeger said. "They are also our most vulnerable citizens, and with WV CASA, it is truly all about the children. I was looking for someone with that same understanding, someone with a tremendous amount of energy, experience and resolve to help guide WV CASA to a brighter future.
"Ms. Pentino brings all of that and then some. We are fortunate to have an attorney of her caliber serve on the Board of Directors."
“Joining the WV CASA Board of Directors is an opportunity to impact the lives of at risk children. It’s a great honor to be asked to join,” said Pentino.
Pentino is the Managing Partner of the firm’s Wheeling office. Her experience with complex litigation in both state and federal courts includes the management, discovery, resolution and/or trial of class actions, multi-party suits and mass tort claims.
Drawing on her deep reservoir of knowledge surrounding workplace safety regulations, workers’ compensation law and industry operations, Pentino helps clients plan and strategically implement policies to limit their exposure. She also has extensive experience representing insurance companies in bad faith litigation, both in Ohio and West Virginia in state and federal courts.
