CHARLESTON - Attorney General Patrick Morrisey confirmed today that the Office of the Attorney General has initiated an investigation into the chemical leak that rendered water undrinkable and unusable for more than 300,000 West Virginians.
"We plan to get to the bottom of this and ensure that the public knows the truth," Morrisey said. "One of our primary concerns will be that West Virginians have answers to their questions about what happened, why it happened, and how this could have been prevented. We need to make sure this never happens again, and that responsible parties are held accountable."
Morrisey said his office's mission is to have an unbiased, independent inquiry into what happened.
In order to maintain the integrity of the process, the Attorney General's Office will refrain from discussing the substance of the investigation. Should an update on the status be necessary, one will be provided.
