RIPLEY -- A local nursing home faces suit after allegedly providing inadequate medical care, resulting in death.

Van Sayre, as personal representative of the Estate of Naomi Sayre filed a lawsuit Jan. 6 in the Circuit Court of Jackson County against Eldercare of Jackson County LLC, doing business as Eldercare Health and Rehabilitation, Eldercare Management Associates LLC and Michael Conaway, citing statutory violations, negligence and wrongful death.

The complaint states on Sept. 26, 2011, Naomi was admitted to Eldercare at 107 Miller Drive, Ripley. According to the complaint, while Naomi was a resident, she suffered from a pattern of poor care, neglect and abuse by the defendant, including multiple falls, injuries and urinary tract infections. The plaintiff contends the defendant's actions caused Naomi to suffer injuries, which lead to her death on Sept. 27, 2012.

The plaintiff is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages and is being represented by attorneys Andrew L. Paternostro, Sprague W. Hazard and Jeff D. Stewart of The Bell Law Firm PLLC.
