Gilmer senior citizens group sued by former employee

Gilmerco

GLENVILLE -- A woman is suing her former employer after being forced to resign.

Julie Conrad filed a lawsuit Jan. 8 in Gilmer Circuit Court against The Council of Senior Citizens of Gilmer County Inc., citing the tort of outrage, violations of the employee handbook and wrongful discharge.

Conrad says she has been employed as a homemaker by the defendant since Feb. 8, 2002. She says after numerous complaints, on Jan. 31, 2013, she confided in her supervisor that she could no longer work for the client, Connie Ables. Conrad alleges Ables's brother-in-law would consistently block the driveway off so she could not go to the home, flatten her tires and vandalize her vehicle and she told her supervisor she could no longer physically and emotionally handle the actions of the brother-in-law. According to the complaint, Conrad's employer directed her to "stick it out" leaving Conrad with no choice but to resign.

Conrad is seeking damages in excess of $25,000. She is being represented by Erika Klie Kolenich and Christina Joann Rumbach of the Klie Law Offices PLLC.

Gilmer Circuit Court Case No. 14-C-2.
