Linda Minnich filed a lawsuit Jan. 9 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Edmundo Figueroa MD and Charleston Area Medical Center Inc., citing the Medical Professional Liability Act.

The complaint states the plaintiff underwent a medical procedure under the care of the defendants on Oct. 28, 2011. The plaintiff contends the defendants were negligent by leaving a foreign object in her pleural space, which caused injury.

Minnich is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages. The plaintiff is being represented by attorneys William S. Druckman and Madonna C. Estep.
