HUNTINGTON -- A woman is suing her former employer after reporting sexual harassment and losing her job.
Misti A. Belville filed a lawsuit Jan. 9 in Cabell Circuit Court against ITT Educational Services Inc. and Katherine Barlow, citing the West Virginia Human Rights Act.
According to the complaint, while employed by ITT Educational Services, Belville was subjected to sexual harassment and a hostile work environment by another employee. Belville says when she reported the incident to her supervisor, Barlow, her employment was terminated. The defendants are accused of terminating Belville's employment in retaliation to her report of sexual harassment.
Belville is seeking damages in an amount to be determined by the court, plus costs. She is being represented in the case by attorneys Mark A. Atkinson and Paul L. Frampton Jr. of Atkinson & Polak PLLC.
