Woman says BB&T appraisal was fraudulent

Bbt

SUMMERSVILLE -- A Nicholas County woman is suing after a fraudulent appraisal of her home's value was conducted.

Deloris Dick, also known as Deloris Wood, filed a lawsuit Jan. 16 in Nicholas Circuit Court against Branch Banking and Trust Company and Glen Sutton, citing unconscionable inducement, fraud, negligence and illegal debt collection.

According to the complaint, in March 2003, Dick purchased her home for $72,500 and a loan of $71,931. Dick says she approached BB&T about borrowing $7,000 to purchase a lot, but was persuaded by the defendant to instead borrow $25,000 for a better rate based on a fraudulent appraisal by Sutton, valuing Dick's property for considerably more than its market value.

Dick is being represented in the case by attorneys Sarah K. Brown, Bren J. Pomponio and Daniel F. Hedges of Mountain State Justice Inc.
