HUNTINGTON -- A local healthcare provider faces suit after allegedly providing inadequate medical care, resulting in death.

Tracy M. Vanover, individually and as administratrix of the Estate of Waylen Lee Thomas filed a lawsuit in  Cabell Circuit Court against St. Mary's Medical Center Inc., citing negligence, medical professional liability and wrongful death.

The complaint states Vanover was a patient at St. Mary's Medical Center for prenatal care and the birth of her chid, Waylen. During that time, according to Vanover's phone calls and admissions, the defendant committed numerous acts of negligence, which lead to untreated Group B Streptococcus and ruptured membranes. The plaintiff contends the defendant's negligence ultimately caused the death of Waylen.

The plaintiff is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages. She is being represented by attorney Sprague W. Hazard of The Bell Law Firm PLLC.
