Mercer woman cites lemon law in suit against dealer

PRINCETON -- A Mercer County woman is suing a car dealership claiming it sold her an impaired vehicle.

Nancy L. Shrader filed a lawsuit Jan. 7 in Mercer Circuit Court against Kia Motors America Inc. and Cole Automotive Group LLC, citing lemon law.

The suit alleges that on June 13, 2009, the defendant sold Shrader a 2009 Kia Sedona for $28,633.86 that had multiple defects. Shrader had to bring the van to an authorized dealer several times to fix various issues. According to the brief, the manufacturer did not honor the warranty to replace the faulty vehicle. The defendants claim the defects were a result of a part installed after the vehicle was sold.

Shrader is seeking a refund of original purchase price, damages, attorney's fees and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Princeton attorney Kathryn Reed Bayless, of Bayless Law Firm PLLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge William Sadler.

Mercer County District Court Case No. 14-C-6-WS.
