PRINCETON -- A Mercer County couple is suing over claims that a physician's negligence caused delay in cancer diagnosis.
Debra Gillespie and Gary Gillespie filed a lawsuit Jan. 6 in Mercer Circuit Court against Dr. Oscar Figueroa, citing professional malpractice.
Gillespie claims she was a patient of the defendant beginning Oct. 14, 2011. The claim states the defendant failed to follow up with Gillespie after a suspicious CT scan and complaints of left arm and chest pains, resulting in a delay in diagnosing Gillespie's cancer.
Gillespie is seeking damages, allowable fees and other relief she's entitled to. The plaintiff is being represented in the case by Charleston attorneys William S. Druckman and Madonna C. Estep of The Law Offices of Druckman and Estep. The case has been assigned to District Judge Derek Swope.
