Man says Citibank uses abusive collection practices

Debtcollect

BECKLEY -- A man has filed a lawsuit accusing Citibank of violating West Virginia's Consumer Credit and Protection Act.

In his lawsuit filed Jan. 29 in Raleigh Circuit Court, Donald D. Beckett claims Citibank had been harassing him over a debt.

Beckett makes general allegations pertaining to Citibank's allegedly abusive debt collection practices. Beckett claims Citibank has called and e-mailed him constantly ever since he fell behind on payments owed to Citibank.

In addition to violating WVCCPA, Beckett also says Citibank invaded his privacy and intentionally inflicted emotional distress.

Beckett is seeking more than $75,000 in damages. He is being represented by attorney Ralph C. Young of Hamilton, Burgess, Young and Pollard. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Robert A. Burnside.
