Woman says Chase Bank harassed her over debt

BECKLEY -- A West Virginia woman is suing over claims debt collectors used unlawful means to collect money owed.


Wendy K. Pendry filed a lawsuit Feb. 7 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Chase Bank USA N.A., citing violations of the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act, West Virginia Computer Crime and Abuse Act, Telephone Harassment Statute, intentional infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy.

According to the complaint, the defendant used unlawful means to collect money owed by the plaintiff, including harassing phone calls and purposely causing emotional distress.

Pendry is seeking no more than $75,000 in damages. She is being represented in the case by attorney Paul W. Roop II of Roop Law Office LC.
