Boone Co. mine, employee named in worksite injury suit

MADISON -- An accident which left one miner injured has resulted in lawsuit.


Fernando Bryant is suing Mingo Logan Coal Co. and Donald Mayhorn over injuries he allegedly sustained at work. The suit, filed Feb. 19 in Boone Circuit Court says Bryant was injured as a result of a fellow employee's negligence.

According to Bryant, he was sitting on a mantrip at a worksite in April 2012. Another mantrip was being operated by his fellow employee, Donald Mayhorn. Mayhorn allegedly hit the mantrip Bryant was sitting with the mantrip he was driving, hitting and injuring Bryant.

Bryant says he sustained injuries to his neck, back and hips. He is holding the defendant's liable for their alleged negligence. He is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

He is being represented by Robert B. Kuenzel.
