CHARLESTON -- A West Virginia University Tech professor is suing the school for not compensating him as stated in their contract.
Asad Davari filed a lawsuit on Feb. 3 in Kanawha Circuit Court against West Virginia University, West Virginia University Institute of Technology and The West Virginia University Board of Governors, citing breach of contract and unjustly retaining money.
Davari claims beginning in 1985 he has performed teaching duties for the defendant, West Virginia University Tech campus in Montgomery. The suit alleges the defendant offered Davari an appointment of Founding Director of the Center for Research and additional salary of $24,000 per year. According to the brief, Davari took on the role of director in 2004 and has generated more than $5,000,000 for various projects, the defendant has failed to compensate him for his hard work.
Davari is seeking payment of the yearly salary, interest and court costs.
He is being represented in the case by Charleston attorneys Robert H. Miller II and Shawn R. Romano, of Romano and Associates PLLC.The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge James C. Stucky.
