POINT PLEASANT -- A Mason County woman is suing over claims the police have retained custody of a personal vehicle.

Shela A. Crawford, individually and as the next friend of her son, William Jeffrey Crawford, filed a lawsuit Feb. 7 in Mason Circuit Court against West Virginia State Police and the Mason County Prosecuting Attorney.

According to the complaint, on June 16, 2011, William Jeffrey Crawford was reported as a missing person and police seized Crawford's silver Ford Mustang as part of the investigation, which is no longer needed for any investigation, but has not been returned.

Shela Crawford is seeking the return of the Mustang. She is being represented in the case by attorney Tanya Hunt Handley. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Thomas C. Evans.
