Woman says mortgage company harassed her

BECKLEY -- A woman is suing a mortgage company over harassing phone calls.


Brenda K. Cruikshank filed a lawsuit March 3 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Nationstar Mortgage L.L.C., alleging violations of the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act.

The lawsuit states Cruikshank began receiving telephone calls from mortgage collectors about her alleged indebtedness and the calls became so repetitive that it rose to the level of harassment.

She is seeking up to $75,000 in damages, including court costs.

Her attorney is Ralph C. Young of Hamilton, Burgess, Young & Pollard P.L.L.C. The case has been assigned to District Judge H. L. Kirkpatrick.
