Putnam couple accuses company of predatory lending

WINFIELD -- A Putnam County couple are suing over claims they were victims of predatory lending.


Brett F. and Wanda L. Pfost filed a lawsuit March 7 in Putnam Circuit Court against Ocwen Loan Servicing LLC and Hartford Fire Insurance Company, citing predatory lending.

According to the complaint, in the summer of 2008, the plaintiffs were approached by Lend America, now defunct, to refinance their home based on a false appraisal by Carteret. In August 2013, the loan was assigned to Ocwen to collect. The defendants are accused of unconscionable inducement and illegal loan.

The Pfosts are seeking damages and judgement the loan is unenforceable.

They are being represented in the case by attorneys Bren J. Pomponio and Daniel F. Hedges of Mountain State Justice Inc.
