BECKLEY -- A Raleigh County woman is suing debt collector, claiming harassment.
Jamie Thornton filed a lawsuit March 6 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Anderson Financial Services LLC, doing business as LoanMax, citing violations of the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act and invasion of privacy.
Thornton claims the defendants began to make personal visits to her home in order to annoy and harass her and her husband into paying debts and repossess her husband's truck. According to the claim, the defendant tried to collect the debts due in ways which are in direct violation of laws put into place in the state of West Virginia.
Thornton is seeking damages, attorney's fees and court costs.
She is being represented by Fayetteville attorneys Ralph C. Young, Christopher B. Frost, Steven R. Broadwater Jr. and Jed R. Nolan of Hamilton, Burgess, Young and Pollard PLLC.
