CHARLESTON -- A woman is suing a tax accounting company and a church after sustaining injuries in a fall.
Shirley F. Scarber filed a lawsuit March 19 in Kanawha Circuit Court against H&R Block Resources L.L.C., H&R Block Supply L.L.C. and First Church of the Nazarene, citing negligence.
The lawsuit states Scarber entered a bathroom at the H&R Block store at 4963 MacCorkle Ave., S.W., South Charleston, when she tripped on an unmarked floor elevation change at the threshold. The building is owned by the church, according to the complaint. She sustained permanent injuries, the complaint said.
Scarber is seeking sufficient general and punitive damages.
She is being represented by Brady A. Campbell of Campbell Law Offices. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge James C. Stucky.
