Rio Grande didn't pay rent in Maryland, suit claims

Riogrande

KEYSER -- Two Maryland companies are suing over claims a West Virginia commercial lessee has failed to pay rent.

Laurit LLC and Suzit LLC filed a lawsuit March 26 in Mineral Circuit Court against Rio Grande Inc., Miguel Aguirre and Jose Lopez, citing breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the defendants entered into a five-year lease with M&E Holdings for a shopping center building in Allegany County, Maryland, personally guaranteed by Aguirre and Lopez.

The lawsuit says the lease interest was assigned to the plaintiffs. Laurit and Suzit say the defendants have been habitually late paying rent and have failed to pay for March 2014.

The plaintiffs are seeking the $8,000 owed in addition to interest and attorney's fees.

They are being represented in the case by attorney James C. Eberly Jr.
