Pocahontas Co. man says he was hurt on grocery store ramp

Foodland

SUMMERSVILLE -- A Pocahontas County man is suing over claims he sustained serious injuries after falling off a Foodland grocery store's ramp.

Homer R. Hager filed a lawsuit March 31 in Nicholas Circuit Court against Facemire Foods Incorporated, citing negligence.

Hager claims he was leaving a grocery store owned by the defendant, Foodland in Richwood, on March 30, 2012, when he fell and was injured. The suit alleges there was a broken sidewalk ramp outside the store where the wheels of Hager's shopping cart became stuck, pulling him off the sidewalk and causing him to fall. According to the brief, Hager sustained injuries to his elbow, knee and hip, requiring hospitalization and extensive medical treatment.

Hager is seeking damages for past and future medical expenses, interest and court costs.

He is being represented in the case by Lewisburg attorneys E. Lavoyd Morgan Jr. and Denise Pettijohn of E. Lavoyd Morgan Jr. and Associates LC.
