Tire comes off car, woman files suit

Tires

NEW CUMBERLAND -- A New Cumberland resident is suing after a tire detached from her vehicle while she was driving.

Pamela R. Smith filed a lawsuit April 21 in Hancock Circuit Court against Weirton Tire & Auto Center Inc., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Smith was a customer at Weirton Tire & Auto Center where she purchased four new tires and rims with installation May 18, 2012. While driving her vehicle the day after the new tires were installed, the driver's side front tire detached from the vehicle, which caused injuries to the plaintiff, according to the complaint.

Smith alleges the defendant performed negligent installation, failed to adequately inspect the tires, failed in hiring, supervision and/or training of its employees and failed to provide services in a workmanlike manner.

The plaintiff is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

Smith is being represented in the case by Christopher M. Turak of Gold, Khourey & Turak LC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Ronald E. Wilson.
