PRINCETON -- A staffing agency is suing after allegedly failing to receive payment for temporary employees from an attorney.
Saunders Staffing Inc. filed a lawsuit April 16 in Mercer Circuit Court against Michael P. Cooke.
The complaint states Saunders Staffing provided temporary employees to work in the defendant's law office in Bluefield from Dec. 1 until March 2. The defendant has refused to pay the invoices sent by the plaintiff totaling $16,129.93, according to the complaint.
In addition, the plaintiff alleges Cooke deliberately issued the plaintiff checks drawn on insufficient funds, which resulted in fees.
The plaintiff is seeking $16,169.93 for the services of the temporary employees and bad check fees.
Saunders Staffing is being represented in the case by Lawrence E. Morhous of Brewster, Morhous, Cameron, Caruth, Moore, Kersey & Stafford PLLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge William J. Sadler.
