CHARLESTON --- A former employee of the West Virginia House of Delegates sues after being terminated.
Jeffery Walker filed a lawsuit April 23 in Kanawha Circuit Court against The West Virginia House of Delegates, citing workers' compensation retaliation and disability discrimination.
Walker claims he worked for the defendant for 12 and a half years beginning April 27, 1997, as a maintenance employee. The suit alleges Walker was injured Aug. 7, 2013, when he fell from a ladder he had complained to management about being defective for more than two years.
According to the brief, when Walker returned to work on 'light duty' he was harassed by his supervisor and ultimately terminated from the position without cause.
Walker is seeking damages, interest, attorney's fees and any other relief allowed by law.
He is being represented by Charleston attorneys Joseph L. Amos Jr. and Karen H. Miller. The case has been to Circuit Judge Charles E. King.
