PRINCETON -- A Mercer County couple is suing Chrysler Group after they purchased a defective vehicle.
Kevin Thompson and Carrie Thompson filed a lawsuit April 17 in Mercer Circuit Court against Chrysler Group LLC, citing lemon law.
The plaintiffs claim they purchased a new 2013 Dodge Journey from Ramey Motors Inc. in Princeton on July 4, for $31,375. The suit alleges the vehicle came with a three-year or 36,000-mile warranty for any repairs necessary.
According to the brief, the plaintiffs had to bring their new vehicle to a repair center seven times for the same symptom, an abnormal vibration at normal road speed.
The plaintiffs found out the vibration is a symptom of an irreparable alignment defect that requires the plaintiffs to purchase 16 new tires within one year. The Thompsons allege the defendant has breached the implied warranty by failing to adequately fix the vibration after several tries.
The plaintiffs are seeking their money be refunded in a sum of $31,375, damages in excess of $10,000, attorney fees and court costs.
They are being represented in the case by Princeton attorney William O. Huffman. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge William J. Sadler.
