Pa. jockey says he was injured when horse slipped on ice at track

NEW CUMBERLAND -- A Pennsylvania jockey is suing over claims he was injured when his horse slipped on ice at a racetrack.

Ernesto Oro filed a lawsuit April 4 in Hancock Circuit Court against Mountaineer Park Inc., citing premises liability.

According to the complaint, Oro was working as a jockey at Mountaineer Park's racetrack on Nov. 21, when his horse slipped on an accumulation of ice and fell on top of Oro, who sustained spine, pelvis and hip injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence in maintaining the dangerous pathway despite knowledge of previous injuries to animals and people in said area.

Oro is seeking damages in an amount to be determind by the court.

He is being represented in the case by attorneys Barry Hill and Anapol Schwartz. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David J. Sims.
