PERSONNEL FILE: Vallejos honored by DTCWV

HUNTINGTON -- Bernard Vallejos has been named the 2014 Young Lawyer of the Year by the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia (DTCWV) and appointed to its Board of Governors.



The DTCWV is comprised of attorneys who defend individuals and corporations in civil litigation.  Its mission is to elevate the standards of West Virginia trial practice; to support and advocate for the improvement of the adversary system of jurisprudence; and to increase the quality of services rendered by the legal profession to the citizens of West Virginia.


The DTCWV this year voted to add the award of Young Lawyer of the Year to be presented at its Annual Meeting, and selected Vallejos as the first recipient of the award.  This award is given to a member of the DTCWV who has practiced five years or less or is under the age of 36 and has, by his or her ethical, personal, and professional conduct, shown exemplary achievement in the legal profession and/or who has contributed time and expertise to the DTCWV.

Vallejos is a nember at Farrell, White & Legg PLLC in Huntington.  He is the former Chair of the DTCWV Medical Liability Committee and in addition to his DTCWV activities is an active member of the West Virginia State Bar, Cabell County Bar Association (CCBA), American Bar Association (ABA) and Defense Research Institute (DRI).  His focuses his legal practice on defending clients in medical malpractice, deliberate intent/Mandolidis, products liability and mass/toxic tort litigation.
